New Kitty - February 20, 2014

We got a new kitty! Our friends, Katie and Alex, found her. She was stuck in a tree, and the fire department wouldn't come rescue her so Alex climbed up this 40 foot tree in the snow and got her down. They didn't want to take her to a shelter, where she would likely just be put down, but they didn't want to keep her since they already have their dog, Chief, and a baby due in June. I felt really bad for the poor thing, getting stuck in a tree in freezing weather, and I didn't want it to go to a shelter either. Plus, we were planning to get a dog and cat when we move anyway, so why not take this cat that would always remind us of our time in Syracuse and our good friends, the Redmons. So I asked our landlord, and she eventually said yes. :) Katie and Alex brought her over one night, and it just happened to be the day that Avary was sick with the stomach flu, so she didn't really get to enjoy the new cat until the next morning. But the boys were sure excited. You can sort of see that Sam and Jakob thought it was really fun that Cusey (that's what we eventually named her) wanted to sleep on Sam's bed. She actually ended up sleeping right between me and Mike all night, but she has been a fun addition to our family! :)
