Birds' Nests

One week in April, we learned about birds' nests. We talked about different kinds of nests and the things that birds use to make them. Then we went for a walk to find our own bird nest making stuff. We saw this snail trying to cross the road while we were on our walk.
Avary decided she better save the bird from it's very likely demise, so she picked it up and put it in the bushes.
Digging up some mud for the nests.
A tree branch.
Cute little flowers.
Digging up more mud.
Collecting sticks.

As we were walking, we heard some sheep and I think they reminded Will of the goat that lives down the path we were walking on. It's kind of a scary goat. Will refused to go any further, so we took our stuff home and tried to build some nests.
Sam decided his nest needed some eggs, so he went in the backyard and got some white rocks to put in it. The long stick poking out of the left side of his nest is "an animal poker... so bad animals won't get the eggs."
I tried to make an Ovenbird's net, which is supposed to look kind of like a Dutch oven.
Avary also put some white rock eggs in her nest, but you can't see them because she put a roof over it. she also did some interior decorating with leaves, flower petals and a pinecone. And she added a leaf to cover the door.
After we made our nests, we went outside to have a look at this olds nest on our shed.
